Manuel C. “Gabby” Villanueva, 88, of Hilo died March 25, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on June 27, 1924, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired crane operator for the former Puna Sugar Co. and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Lehua Seniors, Hilo Seniors Mixed Handicap and Club 50 bowling leagues.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. April 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. April 20 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a noon Mass. Burial is at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Antonia Villanueva of Hilo; daughters, Vil Pedro-Vesperas (Pablo) Vesperas of Hilo, Audrey (Ronald, Jr.) Bento of Keaau; sons, Nolan (Cora Marlyn) Villanueva of Waikoloa, Ryan (Lorna) Pedro-Villanueva of Hilo; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
